The research and resources found here, "Washington Quarters Reverse Design Varieties (RDV) From A to H, and Beyond," originated from a presentation by José M. Gallego at the CSNA’s 48th Annual Northern California Educational Symposium. These guides are intended to assist collectors in identifying the subtle design shifts throughout the series.

A Tribute to Herbert "Herb" Hicks This work is dedicated to the memory of Herb Hicks (1931–2016). Herb was a mentor and a titan in the hobby who personally guided my early questions and generously granted me access to his remarkable collection.
I still fondly remember receiving two rare RDV quarters in the mail from him—specimens I eventually had certified by ANACS shortly after his passing. While I was deeply saddened that I couldn't surprise him with the final grades, his encouragement to explore the hobby remains the backbone of this study. He was a gentle soul with a sincere love for fellow collectors, and I continue to miss our conversations.
The documentation is updated periodically. To receive update alerts or to share corrections and suggestions, please contact José at JMGallego@LosGallego.com .
